Teeth Cleaning That Is Simple & Painless
At Little Heroes Pediatric Dentistry, we know just how much children can hate visiting the dentist. That’s why we have created a child-friendly environment that is sure to ease their worries. We do everything we can to make this experience as pleasant and painless as possible for your and your child. Through role-playing, positive reinforcement, and education your children will come to love tooth care.
One of the most important steps of a solid oral health care routine is your bi-annual cleaning. Teeth cleanings can help to prevent serious health conditions, reduce your risk of developing gum disease, remove plaque and tartar buildup, prevent cavities, and generally keep you and your family’s smiles gorgeous and healthy.
And at Little Heroes, teeth cleanings are simple and painless. At Little Heroes, you can expect your next teeth cleaning appointment to include:
Step 1: A Physical Exam
Before the actual cleaning begins, one of our experienced dental hygienists will perform a physical exam of your or your child’s entire mouth. Your teeth and gums will be checked for any signs of gingivitis or other issues. A Little Heroes dentist will pop in for any major concerns. Parents, feel free to ask any questions at any time.
Step 2: Digital X-Rays
We’ll take digital x-rays of your teeth and mouth to check for:
- Bone loss
- Tooth decay
- Gum disease
- Tooth growth or movement
Step 3: Removing Plaque and Tartar
This next step is generally painless and meant to remove any plaque build up that can cause problems down the road. But the more tartar there is on your teeth, the longer this process is going to take.
Step 4: Expert Cleaning
Once all tartar and plaque have been removed, we’ll use a high-powered electric toothbrush to get a really great deep cleaning in. While this machine makes a little grinding noise, there’s really nothing to be afraid of! We’ll scrub your teeth until your smile is nice and polished.
Step 5: Flossing Time
Our flossing sessions will keep those dastardly Sugar Bugs from ruining your pearly whites. We’ll make sure to get in deep between the gums and clean out any leftover plaque.
Step 6: Rinse
A quick rinsing of the mouth will get rid of any left over debris. Our team uses a safe rinse that contains liquid fluoride.
Step 7: Fluoride Treatment
One of the last steps of the cleaning process is a fluoride treatment. Your child can pick their favorite flavor. This step helps to protect your family’s teeth against cavities for months.
Step 8: Final Inspection
Once your teeth or your child’s teeth have been cleaned, our dentist may perform a final examination that can include checking the alignment of the teeth. Parents, now is the time to ask your questions or voice your concerns before you leave.
Dental Insurance Benefits: Use It or Lose It
If you have dental insurance benefits and have reached your deductible, you are essentially able to receive free dental care up to a certain amount. If you don’t take advantage now, you’ll lose out and will be required to meet your deductible once again in 2019.
The same goes for your Flexible Spending Account (FSA). You can use this savings account to pay for specific out-of-pocket health care costs for you, your spouse, and your dependents. You lose any money in your FSA that you haven’t spent by the end of the year.
Depending on your insurance coverage or FSA, you could be eligible for:
- A dental checkup
- Restorative work (i.e. bridges, fillings, crowns, etc.)
- General dental care maintenance
